The Football Ferns will play Fiji in Friday's semi-finals at the Oceania Olympic Qualifiers in Samoa after outclassing Vanuatu 5-0 to finish top of their group.

Jacqui Hand, Betsy Hassett and Macey Fraser all scored goals with Indiah-Paige Riley bagging a brace in the win.

The Football Ferns started fast and Hand, Hassett and Riley scored in the first half, with Riley snaring her first goal for New Zealand.

Riley added another not long before halftime, with Fraser scoring early in the second half to extend their advantage.

New Zealand top their group with three wins from three games.

Football Ferns coach Jitka Klimkova was pleased with her side's efforts against Vanuatu, particularly in the first half.

"Our goal is to see better and better performances every time we step on the field and the first half was our best performance so far.

"Second half, we were controlling the position, we were controlling the game, we were smart. Saving our legs a little bit for the game that's ion front of us. Controlled it, controlled the result, controlled the possession, controlled the ball, so that's what I'm happy for."

Football Ferns defender Claudia Bunge captained the team for the first time and was named player of the match.

New Zealand face Fiji in the semi-finals on Friday at 5pm (NZT) and Bunge said the Football Ferns are focused on winning that game and the final to qualify for this year's Paris Olympics.

"It's a goal obviously. We want to play at World Cups and Olympics and all the pinnacle events.

"However, we're taking it game by game and our focus now shifts to the semi-final against Fiji and hopefully we can come away with three points and then hopefully win the final and qualify."

Hosts Samoa take on Solomon Islands in the first semi-final on Friday at 1pm (NZT).
