Police to be investigated

13:52 pm on 7 November 2013

Police Minister Anne Tolley has asked the Independent Police Conduct Authority to investigate police handling of the Roast Busters case.

Police this morning acknowledged to Radio New Zealand's Morning Report programme they received four complaints from girls about the Auckland group of 17- and 18-year-old men who have boasted online about sex with intoxicated girls.

The girls were aged aged 13 to 15 and one of them made a formal complaint and underwent an evidential video interview. But police are adamant they did not have enough evidence to prosecute.

Mrs Tolley summoned Police Commissioner Peter Marshall to Parliament on Thursday morning and said she was disappointed the full facts had not been available to herself or the commissioner.
