Auckland police are looking for a member of the Headhunters gang after a man was shot early this morning.
The 35-year-old man is in a critical condition in Middlemore hospital after being shot at a boarding house on Yates Road in the suburb of Mangere, around 4am.
Detective Senior Sergeant Kevin McNaughton said police wanted to speak to Billy Matara, a 35-year-old member of the Headhunters.
He said he is believed to be armed and should be considered dangerous.
Mr McNaughton said it was still unclear what lead to the shooting.
