Monsoon rains forecast to clear next week

There's finally some good news for the Delhi Commonwealth Games with the prolonged monsoon rains expected to give way to sunshine next week.

Torrential monsoon downpours have contributed heavily to the chaotic lead up to the Games, hampering construction and clean-up and creating ideal flooding conditions for the outbreak of dengue fever.

The wet weather's expected to continue but clear skies are forecast from Sunday to next Thursday.

More than 2,200 people have reportedly been infected by Dengue fever in Delhi - a figure that is more than 10 times the normal annual rate during monsoon season.
