A precautionary boil water notice has been issued for the Methven, effective immediately, after the recent heavy rain.

Ashburton District Council said residents should boil drinking water, food preparation water, and water for hygiene purposes, for at least three minutes.
It said the cloudiness in the water at the Methven treatment plant was likely to have been caused by the rain.
A precautionary boil water notice was issued for the Mt Somers and Montalto water treatment plants last week.
The council said all three boil water notices would remain until further notice.
