New Zealanders won't be allowed to purchase edible cannabis products right away, if the country votes to legalise cannabis at this year's referendum.

The final legislation has been published this morning by the Justice Minister, Andrew Little.

A "yes" vote would mean only fresh and dried cannabis, including plants and seeds, would be immediately approved for production and sale.

The Justice Minister, Andrew Little, speaks with Māni Dunlop.
