In the Northern Marianas, the police say an officer who fatally shot his girlfriend at her workplace in Garapan on Friday has died.
The Department of Public Safety Commissioner, James Deleon Guerrero, says the police officer and his girlfriend were arguing before the officer fired his DPS-issued gun at her before shooting himself.
She died at the scene but her partner was later taken to hospital where he died a few hours later.
Our correspondent says more than 20 police had responded to the scene of the shooting in downtown Garapan.
