A high-profile New Zealand sportsman has pleaded not guilty to a charge carrying a maximum penalty of seven years.
The 25-year-old man was charged with reckless disregard for safety of others causing grievous bodily harm after an incident on 16 July this year.
He appeared before Judge Emma Smith in Dunedin District Court on Tuesday morning, and elected trial by jury.
He has been granted interim name suppression and has been remanded on bail until 15 December, with orders not to have any contact with the victim as part of his bail conditions.
