Arrest after meth found in courier parcel

20:59 pm on 5 August 2015

Police and Customs have seized about $1 million worth of methamphetamine hidden in a courier parcel.

An 18-year old Chinese man living in New Zealand on a visitor's visa has been arrested and will appear in court this week.

The police said a kilogram of the drug was hidden in a parcel destined for a Wellington address, but intercepted at the border by Customs.

Detective Senior Sergeant Tim Leitch said the police would be working with overseas law enforcement agencies to identify everyone involved, both in New Zealand and Hong Kong.
