Pacific weather forecasters say the region is expected to face a full El Nino system during the next three months.
An El Nino can mean intense storms in some areas and drought in others.
The forecaster said over the next three months it is likely to be drier than usual in New Caledonia, Tokelau, the Marquesas, the Tuamotus and the northern Cook Islands.
Places that can expect above normal rainfall are Solomon Islands, the Marshall Islands and Western Kiribati.
