Samoa government minister faces assault complaint

A government minister in Samoa is being investigated by police following a complaint for an alleged assault during a cocktail party at a hotel last week.

The police say the complaint was filed by a senior government public servant who was at the function with the minister of Communication and Technology, Tuisugaletaua Sofara Aveau.

A police spokesperson, Leaupepe Fatu Pula, says the complaint is being investigated by the criminal investigation department.

It is not known how long the investigation will take.
