Firefighters have contained a forest fire north of Auckland which broke out last night.
Fire engulfed 25 hectare patch of pine trees in the northern end of the forest.
The Muriwai Volunteer Fire Brigade posted on Facebook that they were helping to tackle the fire which started from a camp fire on Muriwai Beach.
"We're often asked why camp fires are banned from Muriwai Beach, here's why," the post started.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand shift manager Josh Pennefatther said no properties had been threatened by the fire.
