A Waikato woman who was notable for promoting the rights of women and for community service has died at the age of 90.

Dame Jocelyn Fish was national president of the National Council of Women between 1986 and 1990.
She was elected as the first woman member of the Piako County Council in 1980 and served until 1989.
Dame Jocelyn also held numerous positions including being a member of the Film and Literature Board of Review, deputy chief commissioner of the Transport Accident Investigation Commission and a member of the Broadcasting Standards Authority.
She was also a member of the National Commission for Unesco and was part of a group that lobbied for 1993 to be Women's Suffrage Year.
Dame Jocelyn was awarded a CBE in 1993 and later made a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to women and the community.
She is survived by her husband John who was a farmer, and three children.
