Man killed in Auckland Point England park altercation named

The man who died after a fatal shooting in an east Auckland park on Saturday has been named as Charles Anthony Pongi.

The 32-year-old died at Auckland City Hospital after an altercation between two groups of men at Taurima Reserve.

Detective Inspector Glenn Baldwin said the investigation was ongoing and police were examining a large amount of CCTV footage.

"I'm continuing to ask people in the area to continuing coming forward to police, as this is providing assistance with our investigation."

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in relation to the shooting.
