A police officer has pleaded not guilty to a charge of perjury in the Auckland District Court.
The 30-year-old, who has interim name suppression, has elected to have a trial by jury.
Police Superintendent Naila Hassan said the charge related to an alleged offending while the officer was giving evidence for traffic matters in January 2023.
She said the officer was currently suspended from duty.
Hassan said police were unable to comment further while the matter was before the Auckland District Court.
Details of the charge alleged the officer falsely stated he was qualified and certified to conduct road policing duties using a radar device.
The officer is expected to appear before the Court again in February.
