The drawn series against New Zealand means England holds onto second spot just ahead of India for the April first cut-off for the ICC Test Championship table.

England needed to win or draw the Auckland Test to secure the second position, India not only needed to win the Delhi Test but also had to hope for a New Zealand victory in the Auckland test.

South Africa had already sealed its position as the number-one ranked test side and rewarded with $537,000.

New Zealand did pick up points for the drawn series against England but remain eighth.
