Chief Executive Faumuina John Faumuina said the funds were received from the US Department of Health and Human Services under the federal CARES Act and totals just over $4.89 million.

Faumuina said the injection came at a time when the hospital needs to replenish its coffers for coronavirus-related expenditures, which includes over $1.35 million in equipment, nearly $2 million in supplies and over $300,000 in infrastructure costs.

The hospital anticipated more Covid-19 expenditure in the coming months.
