The New Zealand golfer Michael Campbell has given himself a massive shot of confidence after a top-3 finish at the Portugal Masters, his best European Tour finish since a third placing at the British Masters in September 2008.
Campbell posted four rounds in the 60s to finish 12-under par, two shots behind the Irish winner Shane Lowry.
He dropped two shots midway through the homeward nine, but recovered those shots in the last four holes in windy conditions, and he doesn't feel that he let the round slip away.
The 2005 US Open champion had been showing recent signs of a return to form, but says he's been patient in his efforts to emerge from a prolonged slump.
Campbell's effort was worth 223-thousand dollars.
His next event is the 8.5 million dollar BMW Masters in Shanghai next week.
