US President Donald Trump has amended his major federal disaster declaration for American Samoa.
According to a White House statement, the President made additional disaster assistance available to American Samoa by authorizing an increase in the level of federal funding following Cyclone Gita in February this year.
Under the President's major disaster declaration issued on 2 March, federal funding was made available for Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation, and Other Needs Assistance at 75 percent of federal funding of total eligible costs.
Under the President's amended order, this funding has been increased to 90 percent of the total eligible costs.
