A person who stole a police car in Christchurch yesterday morning has still not been found.
The incident happened in the suburb of Hoon Hay.
The offender was bitten by a police dog, before managing to evade police and escape in the dog handler's vehicle.
The police car was later found in St Albans, but a police ID and petrol card had been taken.
While in pursuit of the stolen car two police vehicles collided at an intersection in Riccarton.
"There were no injuries. The patrol cars sustained moderate damage. An internal investigation is now under way to determine the full circumstances of the incident," a police spokesperson told the New Zealand Herald.
The stolen car had been left with the engine running while the offender was pursued.
