Hundreds of households are still without power this morning after Tuesday's thunderstorms.

Some parts of Auckland recorded gusts of up to 120km/h on Wednesday and early Thursday.

Vector had said strong gales across the Auckland region had blown trees and vegetation onto lines that caused damage and network faults.

More than 200 properties are without power, near Pukekohe, Waiuku, Pōkeno, Paparata and Mercer.

An unconfirmed number are without power in the Rodney district - many around Wellsford, Warkworth, and the Waitākere Ranges.

In Waikato, 44 properties have no electricity, and 27 properties in Coromandel, including nine in Thames.
