Three injured in Futuna knife attack

Three people on the French Pacific island of Futuna have been injured in a knife attack at a gathering.

According to the public broadcaster, two of them suffered cuts to their arms and faces and were flown to New Caledonia for medical care.

The attacker, reportedly a man in his forties, has been arrested and will be transferred to the Camp Est prison in Noumea.

The motive for the assault is not known but reports say he was under the influence of alcohol.
