Fire has torn through a house in the Christchurch suburb of Aranui.
Firefighters from four brigades were battling the blaze, which has spewed a significant amount of smoke around the area, on Friday afternoon.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said residents should keep their windows and doors closed, though smoke would dissipate over the next half an hour.
The spokesperson said the fire was "well-involved" when firefighters arrived and the house was significantly damaged.
No one was injured in the fire.
