A 32-year-old woman from the Czech Republic has been found dead after a single-vehicle crash in Whakatāne, police say.
Police said Natalie Pedesvova was found dead on Ruatahuna Road, Minginui.
It was believed she was travelling to Lake Waikaremoana from Ōpōtiki on the evening of 27 August to undertake a day hike, police said.
Police extended their condolences to her friends and family and thanked members of the local community and iwi who helped in finding Pedesvova and at the site of the crash.
Police said they were investigating the cause of the crash and were making inquiries on behalf of the Coroner.
