The Catholic Bishops Conference of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands wants the Manus Island refugees resettled in other countries by Christmas.
The conference along with the Catholic Professionals Society hosted a panel discussion in Port Moresby yesterday about the plight of the about 650 men exiled to Manus.
The panel included the governor of the National Capital District, Powes Parkop, and Kurdish refugee Benham Satah.
The secretary of the conference, Father Ambrose Pereira, told Don Wiseman how tough it is for the refugees.
