20:06 pm on 19 July 2010

A claimant to the Samoan paramount chiefly title of Malietoa married in the weekend.

The title left vacant by the death of Malietoa Tanumafili II is the subject of

an upcoming Land and Titles Court hearing.

One of the claimants is new groom, La'auli Papali'i Malietau Malietoa.

He is the oldest grandson of the late Malietoa - and the only son of the late

Papalii Molio'o Laupepa Malietoa who was a Cabinet minister.

The Head of State, Prime Minister and members of cabinet ministers were among

the guests when La'auli married the curator for Samoa's National Museum, Soonaalofa Ah Poe.
