Otago Polytechnic will take over the Dunedin campus of the Timaru-based Aoraki Polytech, it has been confirmed today.
Staff and students were told about the proposal last month.
The programmes being transferred include early childhood education, hairdressing, journalism and film & television.
Otago Polytech will gain about 24 staff and 160 students in the transfer, which takes effect from the beginning of next year.
The move clears the way for the rest of Aoraki Polytech - which has campuses in Timaru, Ashburton, Christchurch and Oamaru - to be merged with Christchurch based CPIT, to create a new Canterbury-wide organisation.
