Twelve fire crews were called to the Group M building on Fanshawe Street just after 8am this morning.

The fire was contained to the building's basement carkpark - but the building iself has been smoked out.

Fire and Emergency incident controller, Roger Callister, said sprinklers on six of the building's 12 floors were activated.

Auckland Transport says the section of Fanshawe St between Albert and Hobson is closed and commuters have been told to expect traffic delays in the area.
