The new programme is being developed by universities throughout New Zealand.

One of the people behind its development, University of Auckland Business School senior lecturer Chellie Spiller, said the programme would have a focus on humility as a value.

She said the programme had everything people would expect to see in a business masters, such as accounting, finance, economics, but it was very much grounded in Māori culture.

"[It's] making sure that people are firmly rooted in that place, even though they may be operating across different boundaries, different kinds of economies."

Dr Spiller said if humility was more prevalent and practised in business then capitalist disasters may not play out in the way they currently do.
