In-person submissions on the Treaty Principles Bill will all be held at Parliament or by video call, with the Justice Select Committee ruling out a travelling roadshow.
The committee in a release on Friday said it was expecting to receive a large number of submissions - both in writing and in requests for in-person presentations - before the cut-off date.
In-person submissions would be held over the four weeks starting 27 January and 10, 17 and 24 February, with the intention this would be completed by the end of February.
"It is possible that only a small portion of people asking to speak to the committee will have the opportunity to do so," the committee said.
"The committee intends to decide how to select submitters to invite to hearings in January 2025, after the deadline for written submissions."
Those with racist material, strong swear words or abusive language against MPs or other individuals would be rejected and sent back to the submitter to reword if they wish.
Anonymous submissions, or those with just a first name, initials, or a clearly false name would also be rejected and returned if that was possible.
Submissions close at 11.59pm on 7 January. They can be made via the Parliament website or by post.
