Women's hockey team beaten again

06:09 am on 17 February 2010

The New Zealand women's hockey coach Mark Hager admits they were probably lucky to lose only 2-nil to Australia in the second test in Perth last night.

The Black Sticks were beaten 3-2 in the opening match of their 3-match series.

Hager says they lacked experience and basic skills in the match and generally were poor.

However hager was impressed with goalkeeper Sally Rutherford who was playing just her second international.

The third test is in Perth tonight, along with the New Zealand men starting a series against Australia in the same city.
