A combination of two powerful breast cancer drugs could dramatically shrink and even eliminate some breast cancers in just eleven days, according to British doctors.
The findings, reported at the European Breast Cancer Conference, came as a surprise and could mean some women would no longer need chemotherapy, they said.
The drugs, Lapatinib and Herceptin, both target a protein called HERX.
The combined therapy was trialled on more than 250 women with HERX-positive tumours.
