Taranaki hand out record hiding to Waikato

Provincial rugby champions Taranaki have thrashed Waikato by a record 41-0 scoreline in New Plymouth.

Up 20-0 and two tries at half-time, Taranaki poured on three more unanswered tries to move closer to a playoffs place.

The record winning margin's also the first time in 15 years Taranaki have beaten Waikato at home.

Meanwhile, the Wellington captain Brad Shields has been ruled out for the rest of the ITM Cup with a fractured jaw suffered in the loss to Otago on Thursday.
