Sinkhole discovered in Ponsonby

18:33 pm on 12 December 2013

An inner-city Auckland street has been closed off after part of the road collapsed into a sinkhole.

The hole in Islington Street in the suburb of Ponsonby is about two metres wide on Thursday evening.

It is thought that a sewer has collapsed. Staff from the Auckland Council's wastewater arm, Watercare, are at the scene.
