Former Oceania Football President Reynald Temarii has been banned for eight years for accepting more than US$300,000 from former Asian Football president Mohamed bin Hammam.
The general director of Tahiti's Football Association, who was banned from taking part in the vote to choose the 2018 and 2022 World Cup hosts, was found to have violated several FIFA ethics codes.
Temarii was suspended from all football activity for one year in 2010 following an investigation into allegations he offered to sell his vote in the World Cup hosting contest to undercover newspaper reporters.
FIFA's ethics committee says Temarii then accepted close to US$340,000 from Mohamed bin Hammam, who was then a member of the FIFA Executive Committee and the AFC President, to cover the costs of his legal expenses in the context of an appeal.
Temarii, who was also president of the Oceania Football Confederation at the time, lost his appeal.
The Tahiti Football Federation says it will not comment on Temarii's situation.
