08:52 am on 24 February 2010

The Australian mens hockey star Jamie Dwyer says they've felt very comfortable since their arrival in New Delhi two days ago for the World Cup which has been the subject of a terrorist threat.

Dwyer and his teammates have yet to visit the centre of New Delhi, but he says they feel very safe in their hotel, and the city's national stadium is great.

One of Australia's most experienced players, Dwyer says he totally understands the decision of the 21 year old New Zealand star Simon Child who withdrew from the tournament because of the threat to security.

India and Pakistan play the opening game of the tournament on Sunday.
