An Auckland man sent to jail for having objectionable material from Islamic State has had his appeal dismissed.
Imran Patel was sentenced in June to three years and nine months for distributing material from the jihadist group, including videos of a beheading, at the Auckland District Court.

Patel had admitted possessing, making and distributing the objectionable material.
He appealed against the sentence, saying it was manifestly excessive.
The High Court rejected the claim, pointing to Patel's previous convictions including for assault with a weapon.
In that road rage incident, he held a large knife to a person's throat, yelled an Islamic remark and threatened to kill them.
The court said Patel seemed to have little insight into his offending.
A pre-sentence report stated he viewed depictions of beheadings as a way of causing terror to the enemy.
