Quake shakes North and South Islands

An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale has shaken parts of the North and South Islands.

GNS Science says the quake struck at about 9.25pm on Sunday, and was centred in the Wanganui Basin, at a depth of 90km.

It was felt widely in the upper North Island and lower South Island.
