More than 200 people staged a sit-in in central Auckland in support of pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong.
Rallies were being held outside the Chinese Embassy in Wellington in Palmerston North, and were planned for Dunedin and Christchurch this evening.
Organiser Bevan Chuang told Radio New Zealand's Morning Report programme the rallies will send a message to the protesters that many around the world are behind their cause.
