Fiji's domestic and regional airline, Pacific Sun has announced that dozens of jobs will be lost as part of a major restructuring of its operations.

Fiji Village reports 85 positions from Pacific Sun's administrative, support and operational areas will be made redundant from the 31st of January.

The airline's general manager, Jim Samson says Pacific Sun has lost on average 6 million dollars a year over the last three years and continued losses are unsustainable.

The company says as part of the restructuring support and operations functions will be centralised within Air Pacific to reduce costs.

It says this will result in the creation of up to 29 new jobs at Air Pacific, which both Pacific Sun and Air Pacific employees can apply for.

Pacific Sun says eligible employees will be offered three months' severance pay to assist with retraining and job hunting.
