In an apparent change of tune, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern expects to raise the topic of climate change with Australian counterpart Scott Morrison tomorrow.
Fiji's PM Frank Bainimarama this week called on New Zealand to demand more from its neighbours on climate action - a pointed remark directed at Australia.
Ardern had earlier suggested she would not push Morrison on the matter, but today told reporters she expected it would come up in conversation when they met in Sydney tomorrow.
"I can't see why it wouldn't be amongst the many things we'd discuss, but I've never ruled out that conversation - we've had it many times before."
Ardern arrived in Australia tonight and will have a private lunch with Morrison tomorrow before returning to Auckland.
