Associate Minister of Education Nikki Kaye has announced $22 million for new school buildings including classrooms and a library in the tightly contested seat of Waimakariri.
The North Canterbury seat was taken by National from Labour's Clayton Cosgrove at the 2011 election.
Today's extra funding is for Oxford Area, Rangiora Borough, Ashgrove and Southbrook schools and will be used to replace relocatable classrooms with permanent buildings.
Ms Kaye said they are needed to accommodate growth in school rolls as people relocate from quake-hit Christchurch.
Some $15 million has already been announced for Rangiora High School.
