French Polynesia's international airport has reopened after flooding closed it for more than 24 hours.
All flights were cancelled yesterday, with an Air France plane from Los Angeles being diverted to the Cook Islands because of water and debris on the runway.
The aircraft will now arrive in Tahiti this evening before returning to Los Angeles and then Paris.
A state of natural disaster is in force after the weekend rain flooded much of Tahiti and Moorea.
Thousands of households lost power but most have been reconnected.
Schools remained closed as people were being warned of more heavy rain.
The French education ministry has deferred French-wide exams for the selection of teachers because they cannot go ahead in French Polynesia.
The French overseas minister has released just over $US200000 to help with relief efforts.
