Chair of the Auckland Council-owned port company Richard Pearson is to step down.
The council investment agency which oversees the Port of Auckland company says Mr Pearson wished to step down to allow a new chair take the company through its next stages.
During his term in charge the company was involved in an acrimonious industrial dispute with the Maritime Union.
The dispute over a new collective contract with the union remains unresolved, with further talks due later this month.
