A man accused of murdering a woman on Auckland's North Shore has pleaded not guilty.

Police found a woman seriously injured at an address on Wyvern Place in Glenfield, on 29 June.

She was taken to hospital in a critical condition but was unable to be revived.

Clinton James Hepi, 51, from Browns Bay, was named after not seeking continued name suppression in the High Court in Auckland on Wednesday, appearing before Justice Matthew Downs.

He had previously been granted interim name suppression after appearing in North Shore District Court.

Hepi's lawyer entered a not guilty plea on his behalf and he was remanded in custody, with a trial set down for September next year.
