State property valuer QV says residential property values rose by 6.4 percent in the year to the end of September.
They are now 16.2 percent above the previous market peak reached seven years ago.
Adjusted for inflation, however, property values remain slightly below their 2007 peak by half a percent.
As with previous years, the rise was greatest in Auckland, with inflation-adjusted values 14.6 percent above the 2007 peak.
