A man has died at the Adelphi Motel in Taupō this morning.
Police were called to the motel at the corner of Kaimanawa Street and Heuheu Street at 6.30am after reports a man was injured.
Emergency services administered first aid but the man died at the scene.
Detective Sergeant Andy Livingstone says police have launched a homicide investigation and police are working to find out what happened.
A scene examination was underway and police are working to provide ongoing support to the victim's whānau and witnesses.
Police are asking anyone who saw a vehicle arrive and leave the motel around the time of the incident to contact them on 105 and mention Operation Dell.
Police would like to hear from anyone who may have information that could help the investigation team.
