Survey shows 29% optimistic about state of economy

The fourth BNZ-Nine Rewards consumer trends survey found a net 29% of respondents are optimistic about the state of the economy, about the same as in the July survey.

Otago was the most optimistic region on 48% while Wellington was the least at 23%.

By age group, those aged 35 - 39 are the most optimistic at a net 40% positive while the least optimistic group is those aged 45 - 49 at just 17%.

By gender, males are more optimistic on 39%, down from 40% last month, while females recorded just 20%, although that was up from 16% last month.
