A 19-year-old man has been apprehended by the Armed Offenders Squad after shots were fired into the air during a fight in Waikato.
Northern communications police spokesperson Inspector Barry Smalley says the police were alerted at 5.15am on Friday to a fight between two men at a house in Hauturu, near Kawhia.
Mr Smalley says police were told one of the men had a firearm and had fired shots into the air.
The police from Te Awamutu, Kawhia, Te Kuiti, Cambridge and Hamilton attended - and the armed offenders squad caught the man at about 9.35am.
Mr Smalley says inquiries are continuing.
