A quarter-dollar coin honouring the National Park of American Samoa is due to be released in February next year, the office of the United States Mint says.
The coin is part of the US federal government's America's Beautiful National Parks Quarter Coin Act of 2008, which honours national parks across the US.
The mint said the design, depicting a Samoan Fruit Bat, was intended to promote awareness of the species' threatened status from habitat loss and commercial hunting.
